Painter Alise Mediņa’s joint work with Mārtiņš in the project "Creation of the World"

CREATION OF THE WORLD is an art project that unites 12 well-known Latvian
artists - painters in synergy with the young people of the association, creating the world on canvas together.
The purpose
of the project is to collect donations for the creation of a group home, as
well as to emphasize that people with severe developmental disabilities are
able to contribute to society and are a part of it.
All donations received are 100% donated
to the association "Latvijas Kustība par neatkarīgu dzīvi" (Latvian
Movement for Independent Life) for the dream of a group home.
Mārtiņš is 34 years old. Mārtiņš has complex developmental
disorders. He spends his days in a wheelchair. Martin's physical abilities are
limited. Mārtiņš is ready for his life and dreams of experiencing it once, receiving
the necessary support on a daily basis.
“It was an absolutely
fantastic synergy also because Mārtiņš was in a playful mood towards the
painting process and was ready to dip his hand in all the paints, the prints of
which had to be left on the canvas. It is a very correct and true feeling approach
to painting. The truthfulness. Authenticity. Openness. There was a warm energy
from Mārtiņš and I will not be afraid to say for both of us that we enjoyed the
process very, very much! It is important for me to be a part of this project,
knowing that my stroke of a painter's brush has also brought young people
closer to a home where they can be happy, authentic - themselves. Mārtiņš is so
wonderful!” says the painter.
Mārtiņš and Alice together created the work "Flight
towards", 2021, 70x80 cm, oil on canvas.
