Painter Līga Ķempe’s joint work with Dārta in the project "Creation of the World"

CREATION OF THE WORLD is an art project that unites 12 well-known Latvian artists - painters in synergy with the young people of the association, creating the world on canvas together.

The purpose of the project is to collect donations for the creation of a group home, as well as to emphasize that people with severe developmental disabilities are able to contribute to society and are a part of it.

All donations received are 100% donated to the association "Latvijas Kustība par neatkarīgu dzīvi" (Latvian Movement for Independent Life) for the dream of a group home.

Dārta will be an adult next year - 18 years old. Dārta has an autism spectrum disorder. Dārta needs a home where she will be able to be more independent with professional help.

“Dārta is a young, handsome and very fragile woman. I had to make arrangements with Dārta, but we both managed to create this world to call home. The unintentional, but still very intentional fingerprint of Dārta in our joint work symbolizes a tree, therefore - life. Who will look after this fragility of Dārta? Dārta needs a home with a therapeutic environment as much as a tree needs water,” says the painter.

Together, Dārta and Līga created the work "Homeliness", 2021, 70x80 cm, oil on canvas, metal.
